Can You Find the Smiley Face?

(6-16-2012)

This morning while eating her breakfast, Maddie exclaimed, "Mommy, I made a smiley face!" I came over to see what she had done, and indeed, there was a smiley face in her cereal bowl. I love her creativity!

Craft Time!

(6-15-2012)

Since Daddy doesn't get off work until 2am now, that means he doesn't wake up until around 9am. This gave Maddie and me the perfect opportunity to make him his Father's Day card! I found the cute poem on Pinteret (thank you, Pinterest!) and Maddie did the rest by coloring, cutting, and gluing. We ended up giving it to Daddy early because she was so proud of her creation, I knew she wouldn't be able to keep it a secret. Daddy loved it!

Perfection Takes Time...or Not

(6-14-2012)

Maddie received this beautiful rocking chair as a gift...back in November. My grandma had a chair that looks just like this, only much older, at her house and Maddie just loves to sit in it every time we visit her. For Maddie's birthday, my grandma (a.k.a. Nana) had an 80+ year old man from her church make a replica of the chair. It was absolutely beautiful and Maddie loved it! The only problem was, when we received it, it wasn't stained or finished and since we live in a townhouse, Matt can only do those kinds of things in the garage. SO, we had to wait until the weather was nicer and our schedules were clear. Since Matt started his new shift this week, it was the perfect opportunity to finally get it finished! Yay!

I Love Me Some Goodwill!

 (6-13-2012)

I have been keeping my eyes open for a cheap table and chair set for Maddie for a few weeks now. Today was the day! A friend and I went to two Goodwills and a Salvation Army and it was at our last stop I found this treasure...for $4.99! The cool thing about this set is, we know that at least the chairs are from IKEA because the labels were still on the bottoms. Score! Oh, and another add perk about this find? Maddie absolutely loves her new table!

The Look

(6-12-2012)

Maddie has many faces and expressions and I absolutely love it when I am able to catch them on camera. This picture was taken after walking around for a few hours at the Morton Arboretum. We stopped in a shady spot for a few pics and a snack for Maddie. Needless to say, she was more happy about the snack than the pics, but it made for a great shot!

Blackberry Farm

(6-11-2012)

We took our first trip to Blackberry Farm in Aurora today and it just happened to be one of their "free admission" days. Yes! While there, Maddie got to ride a train, a pony, and go on the carousel. We also got to see baby chickens, goats, sheep, and other animals. In addition, we browsed through their museums and got to listen to a player piano (which Maddie was thoroughly amazed by.) The weather was overcast and, though it looked like it would rain, it never did. Overall, it was a perfect day!

Piggy Toes!

There's just something about little kid feet that is so cute! What else is there to say?!

Too Tired to Potty

(6-9-2012)

Last night I went in to check on Maddie before going to bed and I asked her if she had to go potty. She said yes, so we made our way to the bathroom. However, once we got into the bathroom, she slumped down to the ground, said she didn't want to go, crawled over between the tub and the toilet, and went back to sleep. Good thing I just cleaned the ENTIRE bathroom, including the floor, two days before! I sure wish I could go to sleep that easily, but I am thankful that at least she can!

Another Great Find

(6-8-2012)

We ran to Goodwill tonight to look for a new lamp for our bedroom. While we didn't find a lamp, we did come a cross another amazing find...this children's sink for Maddie! It's made out of solid wood and is daycare-quality. When we got home, I looked up online how much a new one would cost and they run anywhere from $170-$200! Talk about savings!

Swim Time

(6-7-2012)

Mrs. Sandy invited Maddie over to swim and play with her today. Maddie had a blast and Mommy got to have lunch with Daddy! It was a great day for ALL of us!

Lovin' this Weather!

(6-6-2012)

Today the weather was in the upper 70's, which is PERFECT! Maddie and I got to play outside and enjoy the beautiful weather today. As you can see, she's sporting her shades and playing with her favorite pink ball. I LOVE beautiful days like this!

Come and Get Me!

(6-5-2012)

Today Maddie and I went walking with our friends C and R. After pushing the girls in the strollers for a while, C and I got Maddie and R out of their strollers and let them walk the Riverwalk with us. The girls had a great time running ahead of us and exploring on their own. R kept coming back to help me push our stroller. It was absolutely adorable to watch the girls enjoy their moment of independence.

This is the Way We Cut Our Paper...

(6-4-2012)

I gave Maddie a pair of "training" scissors today and she went to town cutting up a piece of paper. I couldn't get her to hold them correctly, but she enjoyed every last minute of destroying that piece of paper!

Grumpy Monkey

(6-3-2012)

Maddie has struggled with not feeling well this weekend (I'll spare you the details.) Anyway, after her nap (or lack thereof) today, we decided to go on a long walk, thinking the fresh air may do her some good. When we returned home, she was so tired and grumpy, she didn't want to come inside the house. Instead, she laid down on the front porch and tried to go back to sleep.

It's That Time of Year!

(6-2-2012)

I LOVE fresh produce, especially berries. While on our way back to IL, we happened across a farmer's market/nursery on US 30. Needless to say, we stopped and I bought a bucket of strawberries. Yum! I am so thankful God gives us such healthy and yummy foods to eat!

Friends!

(6-1-2012)

FRIENDS! Oh how I love these girls. Through thick and thin, they've been there and I can't imagine life without them!

Aunt Jenny & Zach

(5-31-2012)

Today we left for my parents house. From there, I will be dropping Matt and Maddie off at his parents house while I continue on to Toledo, OH to visit my friends, Jenny and Sheri.

However, with that said, I must be honest. With all of the errands, packing, and traveling we did today, I completely forgot to take a picture, so the picture above is actually from Friday, and yes, I am catching up on my posts from the past weekend. Oh well! Life happens! :)
